Food for Good
Riva del Garda Fierecongressi SpA has always paid special attention to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. For this reason, in 2016 the company took part in a number of congress and exhibition initiatives as part of the Food For Good project, which involves recovering leftover foodstuffs from events. The initiative is promoted by Federcongressi&eventi, (the national association for the meetings industry), in conjunction with the ‘Onlus Food Bank’ and ‘Equoevento.’
Within the context of the meetings industry, leftover foodstuff is quite normal, given the numerous meals and social gatherings that take place during each single event. It is therefore vital to transform this excess into a precious resource, as expressed by Giovanni Laezza, Managing Director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi: “In our role as exhibition and congress organisers, by taking part in this initiative, we have become an important link in the chain against food waste, offering a service to those people who are in difficulty and who have a right to quality. In order to create this Food Bank, Trentino Alto Adige is a key partner through whom we can guarantee widespread distribution of thousands of meals to non-denominational and religious communities working in the area. Riva del Garda Fierecongressi is proud to be a link in this virtual chain at a time when awareness of food waste is increasing day by day.”
Participation in the Food For Good project costs nothing and therefore Riva del Garda Fierecongressi SpA urges everyone to take part in this battle against food waste.
